The Central Arkansas Development Council’s IDA program is built on the success of people involved. Mrs. Rena Stevenson and her husband Darnell Stevenson are just two of the many participants in the program that find success. In 2005, Rena and Darnell Stevenson, decided they needed help in accomplishing their goals. Mrs. Stevenson wanted to start her own business, but could not get the loans needed in order to do so. Mr. Stevenson wanted to save enough money to repair the couple’s home. Through the means of CADC, with IDA/Economic Literacy instructor Lasker Bell Jr., the Stevenson’s were able to accomplish their goals. They saved up their money through the program and attended classes such as the FDIC Money Smart/Make Your Money Work. In January of 2006, Mrs. Rena Stevenson found herself opening the door to her new business. Mrs. Stevenson cashed out of the CADC IDA program in January and now owns the Allurin Accountant & Tax Service. Then on March 28, 2006, Mr.Darnell Stevenson cashed out of the CADC IDA program and now has enough money saved (and matched through the program)to make the necessary repairs to the couple’s home.
